FAQ's

Washing- Kanjivaram silk is a delicate fabric, therefore, dry cleaning is the best way to handle the fabric. For washing at home, always use cold water and shampoo. Dry it in the inside of the home where there is no direct harsh sunlight.
Storing- To keep the beauty of the saree intact hang it in a cotton or muslin saree cover in cool, shady places.

Never iron your Kanjivaram sarees. Always put a cloth on it and iron. Steaming is always the best way to remove the wrinkles from the sarees.

Kanjivaram sarees are woven in pure mulberry silk. To keep the thickness and stiffness of this fabric, the threads are dipped in rice water and sun-dried before using it.

The Kanjivaram and Kanchipuram silk sarees are the same. They are just two names with the same saree type.

A pure Kanchipuram saree will always feel soft when rubbed gently without any unevenness. To be surer, pass the silk saree through a wedding ring. An original Kanjivaram saree will go through the ring orifice without any difficulty, but a fake one wouldn’t.

The speciality of the saree lies in texture, glimmer, permanence, and refinement which is why it is popularly known as the queen of all sarees. One of the most special features of Kanjeevaram silk sarees is that the Pallu and the borders are weaved separately and eventually join together.

Kanchi Pattu, Kanjivaram, and Kanchipuram pattu sarees are the same. It is an old tradition of silk weaving in Kanchipuram.

Kanjivaram saree price can range from a few thousand rupees to 4-5 lakhs depending on its quality.

Design plays an important role while selecting a bridal saree. If you are a minimalist bride and do not like wearing sarees with heavy embellishments, you can choose a royal Mysore Silk Saree or Soft Silk. If you love dressing up, you can pick a rich brocade Kanchipuram silk saree.

You can style your Kanjivaram sarees in a traditional way (open pallu or long pleats pallu) by wearing heavy gold jewellery and adding an embroidered belt.
For giving your Kanjivaram sarees a modern twist, drape it in a lehenga style, wear designer blouses, kurtas, adding a Kanjivaram dupatta, and any other innovations that you wish to add.

Start by draping your saree on the waist. Tuck the inner edge of the saree into your petticoat or shapewear.
Take the end of the saree on your right side and bring it over your shoulder, allowing the saree to flow over your body. Make sure the pallu is long enough.
Once this is done, begin pleating the rest of the saree into 5 or a maximum of 6-inch pleats. Do this precisely.
Tuck the entire bunch of pleats into your petticoat and don’t forget to secure it firmly using a pin.
Now, take your pallu from the left to the right once, eventually wrapping it over your left shoulder. Secure the pallu on the shoulder with a safety pin or a saree pin. If you don’t wish to fasten it at the shoulder, you can just let it fall over your arm.
